Fasting and the Bible

Fasting

Mary said to fast on Wednesdays and Fridays (https://opentree.com/five-stones/). I’ve always thought of Wednesdays as Mary’s day…I still don’t know why. I also think of Friday as Jesus’ day (the day He was crucified). So, now I think of Wednesdays as fasting for the Queen, and Fridays as fasting for the King.

Daily Reading of the Bible

Reading the Bible is a critical part of spiritual growth and growing closer to God. One might ask, “If that’s true, then what did souls do before the Bible?” In The Acts of the Apostles, a book found in the New Testament, a man is found reading scripture which predates the collection of texts into the Bible (Acts 8:26-40). We all must make do with what is available to us; however, for many there is much available providing abundant means to get to know God and his will. Don’t delay, read, study, and pray! Give what you can…start with one sentence of the Bible a day. If one sentence kindles a burning desire for more, then you’re on the same road as the traveling Ethiopian of Acts 8, and that road leads to the One, True God.
